Mazel Tof!

This past Saturday night Jeremy and I had the privilege of going to a Bar Mitzfah for a boy I started babysitting when he was only a few weeks old! I kept on babysitting for their family as they had two more children, and I'm STILL their babysitter sometimes! They are such close friends of mine, and this service on Saturday truly was wonderful! I was so proud of him, and his family was just BURSTING with pride, too! It really struck me--even though it was a Jewish ceremony, the parental responsibility and the rabbi's charge to the young boy in having a personal relationship with God...it all sounded very familiar. As Christians, we are charged with the same responsibility to train our children to know and love Jesus. I can't wait to be a parent (one day, not right now)! What a challenge, but what an amazing blessing and opportunity! What I do in preschool ministry as a profession is an incredible blessing...but it can't compare to the ministry of parenting! I just thought I'd share my epiphany!
OH, and I must say--the afterparty that night was SOOOOOO awesome! Have any of you ever been to Nove in Victory Park? It's one of those super-trendy places that Jeremy and I had never even heard of, but we really liked it! Anyhoo, check it out sometime! It's right across from the channel 8 studios at the American Airlines Center.
