Anyone ever heard of Tatum, Texas? Well, it's about 15 miles from Longview, Texas (in east Texas), and it's the location of our latest (and FIRST, EVER) camping trip at Martin Creek Lake State Park! When Jeremy and I got married (three years ago, last Wednesday!), we registered for a tent, air mattress, sleeping bags, and a lantern because Jeremy swore he would take me camping one day. That "one day" turned out to be last weekend with some good friends from church: King and Michelle Harrell, their two sons King and Hank, Dawn Moody, and her son Chandler. We had a GREAT time! It was soooo cold, but we had a fire to stay warm, and our sleeping bags turned out to be really warm! Basically, we spent three days, sitting around the campfire, taking walks, riding bikes, eating food we cooked over a campfire, making smores, and talking! The things we did NOT do were: shower (I wanted to, but I just couldn't...it was SO cold!), talk on cell phones, check email, or drive our cars. Martin Creek Lake was SO beautiful. The trees were all turning, the sun was shining, and the sky was clear every day. Here are a few of the pictures from our weekend!

So FUN! We have a tent that holds like 10 people and it has not been opened in two and a half years. We registered for it too!
Glad you like the boooks. Im not happy with the 4th one. Its some crazy stuff so far.
OK -- we want in next time!!! Hopefully after the wedding, we'll have all our own camping gear! :)
how fun! i thought you were going by yourselves. camping is DEFINITELY more fun in a group -- and with kids :) i'm glad you had a good time, even if you didn't get to shower!
