Been a While!

It's been a while, huh?  Well, the last three weeks of my life are just a blur right now!  July  16-20 was a huge week at First Baptist Dallas...VBS week!
My Shining Stars of PreK, Kinder, 1st Grade Drama!
Preschool Large Group Time was fun!
Hattie met another Hattie...in her class!  They had fun, held hands, and did everything together!
I had a little helper one day during my large group teaching time...
All in all, it was a great week.  There was art...
Small group Bible study time...
Snow cones...
Large Group Time...
And so much more!  We had a great week at VBS!
Then the week after that was "recovery week" so that we could be ready to take 250 folks down to Carolina Creek, TX for children's camp July 30-August 3!
Our awesome cabin of 3rd Graders
My amazing family group--the Blue Typhoons! (What time is it?  Typhoon Time!)
Truett and Louisa came to camp, too, and we all conquered the zipline together!

As soon as I got home from camp and did all 6 loads of laundry which had piled up, it was crunch-time at work again...anticipation Promotion (August 26)!  I know, I know, Promotion in children's ministry doesn't sound very tough, but it takes a LOT of planning, talking, and patience!  There are so many moving parts:  kids (obviously, dividing them by ages, balancing the number of kids in each room), leaders (who is staying, who is leaving, who is moving age groups, who is not moving age groups, how many leaders do we need for this room, who can we recruit to do this, etc.), and parents (communicating changes to parents, taking parents' preferences into account if they want their child in another classroom for a certain reason, etc.).  THEN once we get the kids and teachers in place, I start working on the curriculum for each group...and it all has to be done at the SAME TIME!  Get the picture?  Needless to say, it's been busy around here!  OH, and Hattie's birthday is coming up, too, on the 23rd!  That's the BEST part of this crazy month...I get to focus on the birth and life of my precious little girl.  Insert one satisfying, smiley, sigh...here. :)
