By the way, we have this SAME picture of Hattie when she was a baby, playing on this play mat...we called that octopus her first boyfriend, because she used to smile and talk to him for the LONGEST time!!! I think Georgia will end up loving him, too, don't you think?
That evening, we had a few friends come over to bring us a meal and visit for a while. We ended up letting Hattie stay up past her normal bedtime because she had been SO good and she really wanted to hang out with our company.
Well, around 9:15, Hattie was stepping around the brick fireplace area and slipped and hit her chin on one of her wooden activity table chairs. It all happened so fast! All of a sudden, she was screaming and blood was going everywhere! We called our nurse neighbor to come over and look at the gash, and she told us we should go to the ER for stitches. Thankfully, our neighbors offered to stay with Georgia at the house so that she could sleep. Sigh...so we went to Presbyterian Hospital at 9:30 and didn't come home until 1:45 am! Hattie was completely hysterical at first...she was scared by the blood and in a lot of pain. By the time we got to the hospital, Hattie had calmed down (it took a few songs from the Mulan soundtrack to help with that!), and we checked in. She played games on our phones the entire time while we waited and was completely calm. She kept complaining of the pain and asking why we couldn't go home, but we just told her we needed the doctor to give her better bandaides and medicine than we had at home. She accepted it, and kept playing games on the phone. I was so proud of her!
She felt very lucky that she got a red bracelet, too. (her penicillin allergy bracelet)
Around 11:30 we made it to a room, and Hattie even started being goofy with us. She never once closed her eyes, no matter how tired she was.
Long story short, Hattie was AMAZING!!! She was SO brave. Her bottom teeth had actually gone through her chin (just underneath her lip), and she got two stitches on the outside (they wanted the inside of her mouth to heal on its own). After it was all over and we got her aftercare instructions and prescriptions, we came home and tried to sleep. It was a really rough night, but in the morning Hattie was in good spirits. I couldn't stop hugging her and telling her how proud I was of her. Her bottom lip was the size of Bubba's from Forest Gump, but that didn't stop her from hugging all over Georgia all day long. We laid low as much as we could until Gramma and Poppa came to pick her up for her birthday trip to Bastrop! She was NOT going to miss that! I'm so grateful to God that Hattie is okay and that it wasn't any worse than it was! Whew, what a day! And I'm glad it's over!

So glad Hattie is going to be OK.
What a gal! She's a trooper like her mama! Was thinking of you and your childhood trips to the emergency room just the other day. :)Glad all is well.
