The Calm After The Storm

This past Sunday night, we had an unexpected storm blow through Dallas, specifically Lake Highlands and Garland, and it was incredible! First we got rain...heavy, heavy rain, for about 20 minutes. Then we heard the hail begin...and it became a huge hail storm for about 20 more minutes! I was almost freaking out, but Channel 8 kept telling me there wasn't a tornado in sight. Anyhoo, the hail was incredible. Our house got pummeled by TONS of hail...more hail than I have ever seen in my entire lifetime! And it was big hail, too! Thankfully, a tornado did not come, but we expect to get a new roof in the next few weeks (along with our entire neighborhood). The damage to the roof was extensive, but I'm just happy to still HAVE a roof! Thank you, Lord! :)

PS...the coolest thing happened before all this happened. The clouds were rolling in as I was putting Hattie to sleep and saying prayers with her. We had already been talking about how badly we needed the rain, how thirsty the grass and trees were, etc., and then we began our prayers. I always start her off by asking, "What do you want to thank/ask God for?" Hattie thought and said, "Hmmmm. May we have some rain, please, God?" I said, "That's a great thing to ask God, Hattie! God hears your prayers...is there anything else you want to ask God?" Hattie was silent...then she said, "Lightning?" So sweet. The last two times we have prayed for rain, God really has answered Hattie's prayers within minutes of her asking Him. I like to think God is building a foundation within little Hattie's heart...a heart of dependence upon Him and belief that He is her Provider. Thank You, God. :)
During the storm...
