Well, we had our 2-year-old wellness appointment, and I would say it was a success! Hattie's a growing girl, that's for sure. She's 27 lbs 6 oz (60%), 35.5 inches long (92%), and her head is 19.75" (95%...in true Magers fashion!). They say you can double the height of a child at age 2 to predict their estimated height as an adult...if that is acurate, Hattie will be a supermodel at almost 6 feet tall! Ha! Other than choosing to skip the bloodwork (it's a long story, but a decision I made a year ago at Hattie's 12-month appointment), everything went great! Hattie usually has a major meltdown when the nurse takes her measurements and her weight, and then she has an even bigger meltdown when the doctor checks out her ears, nose, throat, and belly...after much, much discussion these past two weeks and me demonstrating what Hattie will expect to experience at this appointment, I must say it went SOOOOO much better! Seriously! She didn't shed a single tear while the nurse did her measurements, however she still cried pretty hard when the doctor examined her. BUT after that, she got a flu shot and didn't shed a single tear there, either! I couldn't believe my eyes. What a big girl! I was so proud of her. I think my coaching, combined with the fact that I bribed her with a "special treat" (come cheerios and raisins in her favorite cup) and she adored her nurse...it all worked together for a great check-up! No more for another year! :) YEA!!!
Our awesome nurse, Ashley!
