Two weeks ago, we began our Advent tradition. Four Sundays before Christmas, the Advent officially begins. Each Sunday night Jeremy will light the appropriate candle and read a passage from the Bible. The first Sunday, he taught us "Jesus is our Hope," and we lit the first candle to represent the expectation which preceded His birth in the Old Testament. This past Sunday we learned "Jesus is our Peace," and we lit the Bethlehem candle, representing the peace Jesus' birth brought to the world when He was born in Bethlehem. Next week, we will learn "Jesus brings us Joy," and we will light the third "Shepherd's Candle." On the last Sunday of Advent, we will light the fourth candle which represents the angels who filled the sky, singing glory to God on that first Christmas night. On Christmas Eve, we will light the white, center candle (aka "The Christ Candle") which represents the life of Jesus, pure and sinless, which entered the world. Those who accept His perfect gift of eternal life are, likewise, washed whiter than snow...like the white candle.
It's our hope and prayer that this little soul grows to learn to love Him as much as we do.
