Dedication Day

Today was Georgia Truett's dedication day at First Baptist Dallas. She and Hattie are 5th Generations at FBD because of Granny and her parents joining the church many, many years ago. We chose Georgia's name because Georgia and Truett are both family names--Georgia's great-great-great-aunt's name was Georgia, and THAT Georgia's aunt's name was Georgia. These two ladies have lots of great stories which I hope to tell another time on the blog. Her middle name, Truett, comes from her great-great-great-uncle, Dr. George Truett. Truett, of course, was the renown pastor of First Baptist Dallas from 1897-1944 (47 years!), through many years of amazing ministry and history! What a legacy this little one has!

Today was also THIS special lady's 97th birthday! Granny grew up under Dr. Truett's pastorship and eating family lunches at his dining room table each Sunday afternoon. She loved him, and has lots of great stories! So, this brings the day full-circle for me...Georgia, Granny, Georgia, Dr. Truett...it's all so neat! We were so thrilled to celebrate so many amazing blessings on one special day! We had 20 seats saved in the worship center for all the family who wanted to celebrate with us, and it was a great morning at FBD!

After church, we all ate lunch at Paradise Bakery (one of the only restaurants downtown with enough space for ALL the kids and adults to be comfortable!). The funny thing was they gave us #24 for our order...Granny's birthday number! ;)
