Paris...Day 2

We woke up early to ride a bus with our group to Versailles.
Our dashing and knowledgeable tour guide
Cobblestones and a pigeon.
These pictures hardly do Versailles justice.  It's a phenomenal palace!  The court of Versailles was the center of political power in France from 1682, when Louis XIV moved from Paris, until the royal family was forced to return to Paris in 1789 after the beginning of the French Revolution.  It is the absolute definition of royalty, glamour, decadence and excess!
Our favorite room was this one:  The Galerie des Glades, aka The Hall of Mirrors.  This hall is lined with windows on one side and mirrors on the opposite side, and when the sun sets, the light shines on both sides of the hall.  It's absolutely stunning!
The statues outside in the famous gardens of Versailles were my favorite things to see.
SOMEONE had to sit in the swirl!
I totally creeped on this couple kissing in the garden maze...but it was too pretty!
And Jeremy found a gate that was unlocked!
There is something so uniquely beautiful about the way the French manicure their trees and allow the leaves to fall this way...I love it.
After Versailles, we went back to the neighborhood of our hotel and ate a delicious lunch of French onion soup and pizza (ha!) at this bistro!
Then we rushed through the Musee d'Orsay, which used to be an old train station!  They have an incredible collection of impressionist art that we all love, but we've only seen them in books!!  It's amazing to see them in real life!

Then we found the Love Lock Bridge!  Tradition says you bring your love to the bridge, put a lock on the bridge and then throw the key in the river to symbolize your love for each other.  We didn't have a lock, but we took pictures instead!
Jeremy, intently taking a picture on his phone...
Beauty is everywhere...
This beautiful path took us to the Musee de l'Orangerie, another historic art museum.  When we got there, it was already closed for the day, so...
We ventured out again...and look what I found!  The Eiffel Tower again!
Then we went to see this amazing thing up close...it's HUGE!  So much bigger than I expected it to be!
Such a full, busy, but fabulous day!!!  Next up, Day 3 at the Louvre and so much more!
